A fresh Approach to LGBT Older Living

TONIC is an ambitious new initiative that aims to reduce the social isolation and discrimination experienced by older LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) people by establishing the UK’s first residential space and community hub with a distinct LGBT identity and ethos.

Today there are well over 22 million people in the UK over the age of 50, of which up to 1.36 million are estimated to be LGBT.

It is fair to assume that we will see significant growth in the LGBT population segment, with an increasingly ageing population, the likely increase

in the portion of the population identifying as LGBT, and the likely increase in the willingness of older LGBT people to demand appropriate housing and services.

The project idea was conceived in early 2013, since when the founding directors have established a network of potential partner organisations and supporters in the UK and internationally. We will shortly begin a 6-month Research & Development Phase at the end of which an Investors’ Prospectus will be published, setting out the business case for investment.
